Chapter 3 Flashcards
What are skew lines?
Two lines that never intersect and are not in the same plane. Also, they do not run in the same direction.
What are parallel planes?
Two planes that do not intersect.
What is a transversal?
A line that intersects two or more coplanar lines at different points.
What is theorem 3.1?
corresponding angles theorem
What does the corresponding angles theorem say?
If two parallel lines are cut by a transversal, corresponding angles are congruent.
what is theorem 3.2?
alternate interior angles theorem
What does the alternate interior angles theorem say?
If two parallel lines are cut by a transversal, alternate interior angles are congruent.
What is theorem 3.3?
alternate exterior angles theorem
What does the alternate exterior angles theorem say?
if two parallel lines are cut by a transversal, alternate exterior angles are congruent.
What is theorem 3.4?
consecutive interior angles theorem
what does the consecutive interior angles theorem say?
if two parallel lines are cut by a transversal, consecutive interior angles are supplementary.
What is theorem 3.5?
corresponding angles converse theorem
What does the corresponding angles converse theorem say?
if two lines are cut by a traversal so the corresponding angles are congruent, then the lines are parallel.
What is theorem 3.6?
alternate interior angles converse
What does the alternate interior angles converse theorem say?
if two lines are cut by a traversal so the alternate interior angles are congruent, then the lines are parallel.
