make sure there are no vehicles in the lane beside you

Accommodate for the off track of truck, the layout of streets and the intersection where you’ll be turning

Avoid backing up whenever possible
- plan ahead to minimize distance
- make sure area is clear
- use a guide (person)
- Sound your horn at least once every vehicle length to warn other drivers
- back your vehicle out of traffic rather than into it

up shift to accelerate, down shift on a hill before you reach it to regulate speed and avoid burning out your brakes
How can the area of air turbulence around your vehicle endanger other users on the road?
Wind turbulence from the truck can actually be strong enough to to unbalance cyclists and make them lose control

- Use 4 way flashers to warn drivers of your slow speed
- Stay in the slow lane
- Don’t direct others to pass,
- When others indicate they want to pass, move over and slow down
