chronic hyperplastic pulpitis (pulp poly)
- usualy mand 1st molar
- pulp reacts to caries or infection by growing out towards the occlusal surface

cutaneous sinus:
abnormal channel or fistula permitting the escape of exudate to the outside of the body
cellulitis:
diffuse inflammation of connective tissue with severe inflammation of dermal and subcutaneous layers of the skin
- “the infection breaks out into the tissues and spreads thru the facial planes”
- eyes often affected
ludwig’s angina:
- the double chin
- potentially life-threatening cellulitis, or connective tissue infection, of the floor of the mouth
cavernous sinus thrombosis:
a blood clot within the cavernous sinus, a cavity at the base of the brain. Infection arises from the sinuses, ears, or teeth
- symptoms include; decrease or loss of vision, DROOPING or bulging eyes, headaches, and paralysis of the cranial nerves
- antibiotics and sometimes surgical drainage
osteomyelitis, and its subdivisions

- bright red gingivitis down to mycogingival border
Desquamative gingivitis (clinical term only, biopsy needed)
- the gingiva “falls off”

drug related gingival hyperplasia
- Anticonvulsants: phenytoin, carbamazepine, phenobarbital, etc
- Ca channel blockers: nifedipine, bepridil, amlodipine
- cyclosporine
- erythromycin
- oral contraceptives
gingival fibromatosis
- familial
- idiopathic
- syndrom related
papillon-lefevre syndrome
- palmar-plantar keratosis (covered in white itchiness)
- aggressive periodontitis in both deciduous and permanent dentitions
