CITIZENSHIP
grants citizenship to individuals born within the territory of a state, regardless of their parents’ nationality. This principle, also known as birthright citizenship, is often associated with the concept of “right of the soil”, where the land of birth determines one’s nationality.
Jus Soli: Citizenship by Birthplace
grants citizenship to individuals based on their parentage, meaning they inherit citizenship from one or both parents who are citizens of that state. This principle, also known as “right of blood”, emphasizes the connection to a nation through ancestry.
Jus Sanguinis: Citizenship by Lineage
Human Rights is the basic rights and
freedoms to which all humans are
entitled including the right to live,
freedom of thought and expression
and equality before the law.

These are unwritten rights but prevail as norms of society (e.g) right to life, dignity and self development).
Natural/Moral Rights
those rights guaranteed in
the constitution (Art III Bill of Rights of 1987
constitution) such as right to life, freedom of
speech, freedom of the press and assembly,
freedom of religion, right to privacy, right to abode
and travel, right to remain silent, right to peaceful
assembly, right to meet a witness in personal, right
to due process of law and other rights.
Constitutional Rights
are those promulgated and passed by the
legislative body individual may have.
Statutory Rights
are those granted by the state for promotion of common welfare of individual citizen. Example: right to life, to own property, to marry, to seek justice in the courts
Civil Rights
rights conferred by the state to the people so that
they may participate in government.
Political Rights
those rights of the people to self-determination, and to pursue economic, social and cultural development and financial security. These rights ensure a life of dignity to people
Economic, Social, and Cultural Rights
Values can be both
subjective and objective.
