What is enumerated powers?
Power Of the federal government that are addressed in the constitution
What is a supremacy clause?
The article of the Constitution which makes the constitution, national laws, and treaties over states
Implied powers
The powers of federal government that go beyond the constitution
Elastic clause
The nation of implied powers (necessary and proper) it authorizes congress to pass all laws that are necessary and proper
Unitary government
A way of organizing a nation so that all power resides in one government
Federalism
Organizing the government into two or more levels (shard powers between units)
10th Amendment
“Rights reserved to the states”
The powers that are giving for the states or people to decided
Dual federalism
National/state government it goes from national state and local to just two (three layered cake to two layered cake)
Cooperative federalism
Policy assignments are shared between states and national government (marble cake)
Fiscal federalism
The pattern of spending, taxing and providing grants in the federal system (it is the cornerstone of national government relations with state and local government
Unfunded mandate
When the federal government requires state and local action but does not provide funds
Extradition
If you commit a crime in one state and flee to another state you will be tried in the state you committed the crime in
Full faith and credit
Requires each state to recognize official documents and civil judgments rendered by the courts of other states
Privileges and immunities
Stops states from discriminating against people in another state
