New Jersey’s Buckle-up Law
states that all car seat occupants of passenger vehicles in NJ need to wear a seat belt
Exemptions to the Buckle-up Law
Vehicles manufactured before July 1, 1966, vehicles that are not required to be equipped with seat belts under federal law and a physical or medical reason

Types of Car seats

Will protect a Baby up to 20 pounds and 26 inches. must be placed in the vehicle facing the rear
Convertible car seats
Will protect an infant up to 40 pounds and 40 inches. can be adjusted to a reclining position and face backwards for a baby
Child Restraint Law
states that children up to age 8 or a weight of 80 pounds must ride on a booster seat in the rear of the vehicle. children under 8 and over 80 pounds have to ride in the rear and use a seatbelt
Rule-of-thumb regarding brakes
a motorist should be able to stop within 25 ft at 20 mph

a vehicle should not be driven with tires that have less than 1/16 inch of thread
