What is distributed operating systems?
A form of parallel processing system which spreads the load over multiple computer servers
What is a multi-tasking system?
A system that may run of a standalone computer or pc
I.e. windows os can run many jobs simultaneously switching between them so each one appears to be the only one running
What is a multi-user OS?
A single mainframe or supercomputer is connected to dozens of hundreds of terminals all using the mainframe CPU
What is a embedded OS?
Embedded systems are computers inside another electric device
What is a real-time OS?
An OS that returns the data within a given amount of time
What OS utilises redundancy?
Real time
What is redundancy?
Spare parts in a real-time os device that will take over if the main parts fail
What are device drivers?
a device driver is a program that provides a software interface to a particular hardware device
