Chapter 28 - Statistics- ** THIS WAS ON TEST** Flashcards
What is sensitivity?
the ability of a test to detect disease
What is the calculation of sensitivity?
of true positives/ # True positives PLUS False negatives
True/ all positives and false negatives
What is specificity?
the ability for a test to identify normalcy that there is NO disease
What is the calculation of specificity?
True Negatives DIVIDED by the True Negative + False Positives
What does True positive state?
the test indicates disease, test is correct
What does True negative mean?
The test indicates normal, test is correct
Whati s a false positive?
The test says there’s disease, the test is incorrect
What is a false Negative
The test says its normal, the test is incorrect
What is the positive predictive value?
How often negative study is correct
How do we calculate the positive predictive value (PPV)?
True Positive DIVIDED by True Positive and False positive
Whati s the NEGATIVE predictive value
how often negative studies are correct
What is the calculations for the negative predictive value?
True Negative DIVIDED b The true negative + False Negative
What is accuracy?
the percentage that ALL studies are correct
How do we caclulate accuracy?
Total number of correct tests divided by the number of all studies.
Accuracy lies between sensitivity and specificity.
T/F
True
Accuracy lies between positive and negative predictive values
True / false
True
What does the acronym “SNOUT” mean in regardes to sensitivity?
Sensitivity RULES Negative out
What does the acronym “ SPIN” mean?
specificity rules positives in.
What marking is on the horizontal axis of the grid?
The top squares
What marking is on the vertical acis?
The study results
How would I label my 4 squares?
A B
C D
What letter does A mean in the grid?
True positive
What letter does B mean in the grid?
False positive
What letter does C mean in the grid?
False neagtives
What letter does D mean in the grid?
True negatives
The whole top row in the grid is ______ . positives or negatives?
positives
The whole bottom row in the grid is _______. Positives or negatives?
Negatives
What is the formula for accuracy?
A+D / A-D
What is the formula for Sensitivity?
A/ A+C
What is the formula for Positive predictive value?
A/ A+B
What is the formula for negative predictive value?
D/ C+D
What is the formula for specificity?
D/ B+D
How do you remove any visible residue on a probe?
Soft cloth lightly dampened with mild soap.
True or False
Sterile saline is an acceptable disinfectant?
FALSE, it is not
