Definition of learning
Rearrangements of neural pathways resulting in a temporary or permanent change in behavior
Definition of teaching
System of activities intended to produce learning. Transformation of information resulting in change. Can be planned or incidental
Role of family in client teaching
Family is important because they may be the ones taking care of the patient and the patient might not be capable to be taught while they are sick.
Teaching process
- Collect data; analyze client’s strength and deficits
- Make educational diagnoses
- Develop a teaching plan: write learning outcomes, select content and time frame, select teaching strategies
- Implement teaching plan
- Evaluate client learning based on achievement and learning outcomes
Process for adult learners
