What is the scientific revolution?
The scientific revolution was a revolution of ideas about thinking of the natural world.
What is the geocentric theory?
The idea that the earth was at the center of the universe. Thought of by Aristotle.
What is the heliocentric theory?
The heliocentric theory was the idea that the sun is the center of the universe. This theory was developed by Copernicus. He published this idea in 1543 in a book “On the Revolutions o the Heavenly bodies”.
Who was Galileo Galilei?
Galileo Galilei was a Dutch lens maker who built his own telescope. He published a book called starry messenger which supported Copernicus.
What happened when Galileo stood trial before the inquisition in 1633.
Galileo published a book “dialog concerning the two chief world systems”. This book supported the ideas of Copernicus. He admitted under threat of torture that the church was right. He was put under house arrest.
What is the scientific method?
The scientific method is a procedure for gathering and testing ideas.
Who was Isaac Newton and what did he do?
Isaac Newton helped to bring many scientific breakthroughs together into one theory of motion in a book called “the mathematical principle of natural philosophy”.
Who created the microscope?
A Dutch glassmaker, named Zacharias Janssen, invented the microscope in 1590.
