Chapter 21 - Resuscitation Flashcards
Pathio
- need mechanical and chemical functions
asystole
no electrical productivity, CANT SHOCK, no rhthym, cant because its not there, nothing to shock
Ventrical fibrillation
not alive or breathing, always be dead, CAN SHOCK
sudden cardiac arrest
direct interruption in electrical condictivity of the heart
commotio cardis - exceptionally specific… need it at the exact time, chances are slim, young baseball players hs and young cuz they get hit in the chest(unprotected area), heart will seize and stop…
different factors- proves that its possible and heart stopped, they did CPR… brain damage within 5 minutes, 8 minutes dead
asphyxial cardiac arrest
systemic hypoxia, more warning when people decompensate, ventilation is important because u arent oxygenating without it, aneroibc respiration is what ur doing without
agonal respirations
before body gives up, mouth movement little sound and little air movement, brain cells last minute to fix anything, guppy breathing then heart stops, no pulse or close to death
sudden unexpected infant death synfrom
- too tired to recognize a baby is with u, roll over and suffocate them…they will stop breathing and not start again. infant will be fatal if infant is not reached in time
sleep apnea and hypoxia
improving cardiac arrest survival
seize…. hypoxic…cardiac arrest
The chain of survival Adult
Five elements
1. Recognition and Activation of the Emergency Response System
2. Immediate High-Quality CPR
3. Rapid deibrillation
4. Basic and Advanced Emergency Medical Services
5. Advanced Life Support and Postarrest Care
if u hyperventilate barrow trauma
Death Notification
- to the family. NAME IS DEAD. I am very sorry for your loss, we have done everything we could.
- They died exactly how they lived, next to you. Calm, next to you
- closure to the patients family, strive for the above statement, help them with the guilt in the long term
