Q

What is the difference between an infectious disease and a communicable disease?

A

An infectious disease is a medical condition caused by the growth and spread of harmful organisms within the body where as a communicable disease is a disease that can be spread from one person or species to another.

Therefor all communicable disease are infectious, but not all infectious disease are easily communicable.

i.e. Salmonella is an infectious bacterium that causes food poisoning but the infection is not communicable to others.
