The Weimar republic was not received well by it’s people. Explain
Because of the terms it was forced to accept after Germany’s defeat in the 1st world war
Many Germans held that the newly established weimar republic was responsible for the disgrace at versailles
Politically too, the Weimar republic was fragile,It had some inherent defects which made it vulnerable to dictatorship

it was difficult for a single political party to get the majority,so it led to coalition
Another defect was Article 48, which gave the president , enormous right to declare emergency, suspend civil rights and rule by decree

The treaty of versailles was signed by Germany and Allied nations on June 28 1919, formally ending WW1
Germany lost it’s overseas colonies, a tenth of it’s population, it’s territories, iron and coal
The allies demilitarised Germany to weaken it’s power
Germany was forced to pay the compensation
The allied- armies also occupied the resource rich Rhineland
