What is organizational culture?
A
Written and unwritten policies, norms, and values that inform you about how things are done where you work.

Who sets the tone for culture?
A
Culture is strongly influenced by its senior managers wo set the tone and give the verbal and nonverbal cues to everyone else.

Cultures of successful organizations include what?
A
- Telling the truth and valuing candor and honesty.
- Pursing the best path, not the easiest.
- Leveraging the power of partnership with employee’s.
- Continually focusing on core values.
- Courage to be accountable.
- Promotes a culture of civility towards others.

How can you change culture?
A
- Be sure a change is needed for a good reason. 2. Be sure you are supported.
- Change should be done gradually.
- Communicate the changes, and ensure it goes in stages. Sometimes only a few changes are needed.
- Get feedback about the change. Adjust if needed.
- Try to measure if possible.
- Requires leadership from person wanting change IE: you.

What is the external environment?
A
Consists of those factors outside your organization that can affect your operations, yet you have little or no control over them.

Tips for navigating or handling external environment?
A
- Be integral to your organization.
- Be aware of things that could impact the facility. IE: taxes, laws, etc.
- Attempt to incorporate your knowledge of organization and its environment into your daily operations and goals.
- Go to meetings, other facilities, etc.
- Network and establish relationships. The more you know, the better off you will be.
