A
Before: restricted lives, middle and upper class were expected to behave politely, wear little makeup, pale faces, long dresses or skirts, long sleeve, no skin showing, low shoes, controlled by their husbands, had to wear gloves when went out to dance. Lower class had low paid jobs such as cleaning and low skilled factory work. Couldn’t vote.
After:
Women were called flappers, after WW1 when their husbands went to war, they had more freedom so they stared to wear different clothes, short dresses and skirts, showed skin, makeup and tanned skin. Went clubbing with men. However, they would flirt too much so an anti flapper league was created against flappers behaviour. They were seen as “born of the devil”
