Physical map
An explanatory table of symbols on a map.

A map showing the borders defining countries, states, providence a, cities, territories, etc. shows how humans have impacted the landscape and they can change frequently.
Political map
Can represent a variety of information including things like climate, precipitation, vegetation, elevations etc.
Land use/resource map
A map showing the number of people in a location or area.
