What is the first step when lifting patients?
Get as close as possible to the patient being lifted.
What is the second step when lifting patients?
Keep the feet apart, one slightly in front of the other to provide a good base of support.
What is the third step when lifting patients?
Keep the knees slightly bent.
What is the fourth step when lifting patients?
Keep the back straight.
What is the fifth step when lifting patients?
Bend from the hips and knees (never bend from the waist).
What is the sixth step when lifting patients?
Squad down and push with the leg muscles.
What is the seventh step when lifting patients?
Obtain help if unable to move a patient who is too heavy.
