What is an Employee?
Somone who works in the industy and has an employment contract?
What is an Employer?
Someome who hires staff to work for them.
What is a Worker?
Somone who works in the industry but does not have an employment contract.
Personal attributes you would need to work in the H&C ind
- Remain calm under pressure
- Approachable and helpful to customers and colleages
- Good communication: on the telephone, face-to-face with customers, suppliers and work colleages
- Reliable/Well Organised - Good attention to detail
Skilled needed to work in the H&C ind
- Ability to multi-task.
- Ability to respond appropriately to
probems that arise. - Ability to communicate and act calmly with difficult customers or situations.
- Good knowledge. (in general and of the buisness)
Full-time contracts
Permament contract - Hours of work Start/End times are specified. Any shift worl is specified. The employee qualifies for sick pay and holiday pay.
Part Time contract:
Permanent contract - days of the week and hoursmof work and start/end times are specified. The employee qualifies for reduced sick pay and reduced holiday pay.
Casual work:
Seasonal or available through an agency, e.g. to cover someone who is away from work due to illness. The worker does not qualify for sick pay or holiday pay.
Zero Hours contract:
This type of contract is between an employer and a worker, where the worker may sogn an agreement to be available to work when they are needed by the employer, but no specific number of hours or times to start and end work are given.
Whats the Maximum ammount (average) of hours people can work for a week?
48 hours a week
Whats the working hours of people under 18
People under 18 cannot work for more than 8 hours a day or 40 hours a week.
Remuneration?
Remuneration is a term for the reward that people recieve from working somewhere. It includes their basic pay, plus extra money to top up their income.
Remuneratiom can be in the form of:
- Tips and gratitudes.
- Service charge.
- Bonus payments and rewards.
Tips and gratitudes:
Money given to someone by a customer as a way of saying “thank you” for good service.
Service charges:
A percentage added to a customer’s bill to reward the employees who habe provided the customer with a service.
