Chapter 2- Instrumentation Flashcards
Knobology: Imaging, Processing, Storage
What does the New Patient/ End Current Patient key do?
Clears current patient ID, stored images, and comments to allow for new information to be entered.
What does the Transducer/Probe key do?
Selects the transducer or probe you will be using for the exam
What does the Imaging Preset/ Model key do?
Selects an appropriate imaging preset or model as a starting point for imaging parameters.
What does the Frequency control do?
Selects a frequency based on anatomy and examination.
How do you determine what frequency to use?
Lower frequencies are used for deeper structures, and higher frequencies are used for superficial structures.
What does the Depth control do?
Selects imaging depth to adjust the image size.
What does the Time-Gain Compensation do?
It equalizes the different echo amplitues so that echos returning from deep in the body are amplified. This means that information about deeper structures can be received.
What does the TGC curve do?
Displays the TGC information vertically on the right of the screen.
