What is Pharmacy?

Duties of Pharmacy Technicians
Pharmacy Technicians participate in:
Purchasing

Reviewing insurance information

Duties of a Pharmacist
Initiating, adjusting, or renewing medication orders/prescriptions
Using a drug list recommended by the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee

Assisting consumers to choose best over the counter medications
Signing all entries in the medical records
Ordering tests and labs for medications they are approved to initiate, adjust, or renew.

What’s a passing score on the PTCE?

ExCPT Exam
Is required to become certified with the National Healthcare Association (NHA) Pharmacy Technician Certification Program. Overseen and administered by the ICPT.
Continuing Education
Certification is valid for 2 years. After this time, certification must be renewed with fulfilling 20 hours of continuing education credits with 1 contact hour in pharmacy law.

AACP
The American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy represents all 129 pharmacy colleges and schools in the United States and is the National Organization representing the interests of pharmaceutical education and educators.
AAPSs
The American Association Pharmaceutical Scientists, formerly an academy of the American Pharmacists Association, represents pharmaceutical scientists employed in academia, industry, government, and other research institutions.
AAPTs
The American Association of Pharmacy Technicians, formerly called the APT, represents pharmacy technicians and promotes certification of technicians. The association has established a Code of Ethics for Pharmacy Technicians.
ACCP
The American College of Clinical Pharmacy is a professional and scientific society that provides leadership, education, advocacy, and resources for clinical pharmacists.
ACPE
The Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education is a national accrediting agency for pharmacy education programs recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.
APhA
The American Pharmacists Association consists of 3 academies: the Academy of Pharmacy Practice and Management, the Academy of Pharmaceutical Research and Science, and the Academy of Student Pharmacists.
