Chapter 2 - Forces Flashcards
What can force change on an object?
Shape, motion or state of rest.
What is the consequence of every action?
Equal and opposite reaction
What is a resultant force?
A single force which has the same effect as all forces acting on the object
What happens when the resultant force = 0?
Object is at rest or at a constant speed
What happens when the resultant force doesn’t = 0?
The velocity of an object will change
What happens to the resultant force when 2 forces act on the same line
Resultant Force = sum of all forces in same direction or difference in forces acting in opposite directions
How is force shown on a diagram?
As an arrow
Why do you use a parallelogram of forces?
To find the resultant force of 2 forces NOT acting on the same line
If the acceleration of an object increases, what else increases?
Resultant force
How does the greater mass of an object change the acceleration?
Makes the acceleration smaller for a given force
