Chapter 2:Cardiovascular anatomy and physiology Flashcards
What three major components does the cardiovascular system include
The heart, the vascular beds, and blood
Where can you feel the heartbeat
Where are the Apex contracts that internal chest wall when pumping blood to the arteries
What is PMI
Point of maximum impose and is useful in evaluating the size of the heart
Where does external respiration occurs
The pulmonary capillary bed
What are the three walls of the heart
Epicardium, myocardium, and endocardium
Which walls of the heart is which?
The epicardium is the lining on the heart outer surface. The myocardium Is the middle layer. In the endocardium is the inner surface of the heart
What does the pericardium do?
Completely enclosed is the heart. It serves to anchor and protect the heart
Describe the myocardium.
The heart muscle. The middle layer.
What is the pacemaker of the heart?
Sinoatrial (SA) node.
What does (SA) do?
Indicate each cardiac cycle.
What does AV stand for?
Atrioventicular node
