What is jury duty?

A

A jury decides if the verdict is ‘guilty’ or ‘not guilty’. They swear on an oath to use only evidence and the law to reach a verdict.

Who is eligible for jury duty?

A

Must be 18 years of age and a Canadian citizen. The jury always has 12 people.

John Howard Society

A

Helps ANY person that has been released from prison. Believes that the government is not doing enough to prevent young people from committing crimes.

A

Deals mainly with women and young girls. They think that each case presented to the court should be looked at on an individual basis. Doesn’t think that putting youth in jail is a good solution to youth crime

A

A
