How are laws passed?
It is introduced in the Cabinet, if it passes, it goes to the other chamber. Once it is passed by both chambers in the same form, it goes to the Governor General for Royal Assent.

Making sure that the rights of Canadians are respected. Can over turn laws if they find rights of Canadians are not respected.
How are Members of Parliament elected?
They are from the Prime Minister’s political party, they are appointed by the Prime Minister.
Role of MP’s
They represent their constituents. 338 mp’s in Canada
Role of the senate
To provide regions an equal voice. Gives “sober second thought”. Has power to suggest changes or to reject bills.
How does an MP become a member of the Cabinet
They are appointed to the positions by the Prime Minister.
Role of a Cabinet Ministers
Made up of MP’s. They have special duties and responsibilities over government departments
Popular Vote
The party that receives the most votes out of the total number of votes casted.
Minority Government
A party that has LESS THEN 50% of the seats.
Majority Government
A party that has MORE THAN 50% of the seats.
