Two principle of aircraft system that contains fuel.
a. The Airframe Fuel System
b. The Engine Fuel System
The Airframe Fuel System
Stores the fuel until it is needed, and deliver it with the appropriate amount to the power demanded from the engine to a set pressure and quality.
The Engine Fuel System
Adapts the fuel supplied from the aircraft fuel system into a form suitable for ignition within the engine.
Design Objectives
a. A facility for rapid and safe fuel replenishments
b. The flexibility to provide for the extensions in aircraft range and endurance imposed a wide variation in operational requirements
c. Automatic or semi-automatic control and management of the fuel system
d. Tolerance to aircraft manoeurve and to damage
e. Secondary use of fuel eg:coolant
