Additive colors
Colors created with light.
Analogous color scheme
A color scheme that uses hues close to each other on the color wheel.
Complementary color scheme
A color scheme that uses hues on opposite sides of the color wheel.
Form
The basic shape and configuration of an object or space.
Hue
The property of color that describes the basic color, separate from value and intensity.
Intensity (chroma)
The property of color that describes the degree of purity of the hue when compared with a neutral gray of the same value.
Monochromatic color scheme
A color scheme that employs one hue with variations only in intensity and value.
Pattern
The repetition of a decorative motif on a surface.
Proportion
The relationship of parts of a composition to each other and to the whole.
Scale
The relative size of something as related to another element of known size.
Subtractive Colors
Colors created with pigments.
Tetrad color scheme
A color scheme that uses four colors equally spaced around the color wheel.
Texture
The surface quality of a material, which can either be actual (physically smooth or rough as determined by touch) or visual (assumed smooth or rough based on appearance and memory of similar textures).
Triad color scheme
A color scheme that uses three colors equally spaced around the color wheel.
Value
A property of color that describes the degree of lightness or darkness of color in relation to white and black.
