How are fold mountains formed?
When two plates collide pressure from the plates slowly folds the earths crust into fold mountains. The crust is compressed and is buckled up to form mountains.
What are anticlines and synclines
Anticlines are the unfolds
Synclines are the downfolds

The Nazca plate sank under the South American plate which folded the crust creating the Andes Mountains

Formed 250 million years ago during the Armorican foldings. Pressure came from the south to form the mountains of Munster.
