Chapter 2 Flashcards
The physical forms of matter, which include, solid, liquid, and gas
States of Matetr
The state of matter in which the volume and shape of a substance are fixed
Solid
The state of matter that has a definte volume but not a definite shape
Liquid
The force that acts on the surface of a liquid and that tends to minimize the area of a surface
Surface Tension
The resistance of a gas or liquid to flow
Viscosity
A form of matter that does not have a definite volume or shape
Gas
A measure of how hot or cold something is; specifically, a measure of the movement of particles
Temperature
The conversation of a liquid to a vapor when the vapor pressure of the liquid equals the atmospheric pressure
Boiling
The change of state from a gas to a liquid
Condensation
The process in which a solid turns directly into a gas
Sublimation
