Frames Bulkheads (structural, fireproof, fuel) Beams Longerons Stringers Floors Skin Panels
What is the function of a beam?
To resist bending, used in cantilever sections such as the front fuselage
What structure comprises of stringers and frames
Semi-monocoque
What is the function of a longerons?
Strong longitudinal members that provide longitudinal stiffness to the airframe
What is the fuselage component that provides a cross sectional shape of the stressed skin?
Frames/formers
What are stringers?
Run in between frames or bulkheads, made from pressed sheet or extruded aluminium alloy
What is the structure of the floors
An aluminium/aramid fibre honeycomb sandwiched between aluminium skins (Nomex)
How is access to maintenance areas achieved?
Through quick release or structural panels.
Name 3 types of fasteners
Dzus
Cameloc
Oddie
What are the constructional areas of a helicopter?
