Chapter 2 Flashcards
At what temperature liquid oxygen must be stored at? (Critical Temperature)
Liquid oxygen must be stored well below its critical temperature of -119 degrees celsius because gases can be liquefied by pressure only if stored below their critical temperature
As oxygen is expended, the cylinder’s pressure falls _______ to its content
in proportion
Full E cylinder of O2 (liters, pressure, color, form)
625L, 2000psi, Green, Gas
Full E cylinder of Air (liters, pressure, color, form)
625L, 2000psi, Yellow, Gas
Full E cylinder of N20 (liters, pressure, color, form)
1590L, 745psi, Blue, Liquid
Full E cylinder of N2 (liters, pressure, color, form)
625L, 2000psi, Black, Gas
Critical temperature of nitrous oxide
36.5C, above room temperature, it can be kept liquified without an elaborate refrigeration system
Volume in Nitrous Oxide tank is ______ to cylinder pressure. By the time the pressure begins to fall, we can estimate _____L is left in the tank
not proportional, 400L (one-fourth of the cylinder)
What system is used to discourage incorrect cylinder attachments?
pin index safety system
What is the maximum leakage allowed in OR equipment?
10 microAmps
Line Isolations Monitor
determines the degree of isolation between the two power wires and the ground and predicts the amount of current that could flow if a second short circuit were to develop. An alarm is activated if an unacceptably high current flow to the ground becomes possible (2mA or 5mA)
What should you do if the line isolation monitor alarms?
the last piece of equipment that was plugged in is suspect and should be removed from service until it is repaired
What should you do if the ETT ignites?
should the tube ignite, it should be removed immediately and the patient should be ventilated by mask until reintubated or, in the case of tracheostomy, until the tracheostomy tube is inserted
