Crispus Attucks
He was shot during the Boston massacre, is African American and is considered the first man killed in the fight for American independence.
John Adams
A respected lawyer who represented the soilders at the Boston massacre. He went on to be the first vice president and seccond president of the united states of america.
Most of the soildier were pardoned, they acted in self defence.
Only the killer of Cispus Attucks.
Samuel Adams
He was a leader of the Sons of Liberty and a member of the Massachusetts assembly.
Sons of Liberty
The Sons of Liberty or a group of men usually shopkeepers merchants or craftsmen who organized boycotts and Lead protests they were also the group that orchestrated the Boston Tea Party
Why did the colonists consider the Townshend Acts to be oppressive?
The Townshend Acts taxed every day essentials like lead, tea, glass, and paper as well as other daily materials.
Why did the Tea Act result in such violent opposition?
Sons of Liberty managed to get most of the Townshend Acts repealed except they kept taxing tea, to make it worse the Tea Act allowed the British East India Tea Company to sell tea directly in the colonies which reduced the price of tea but took jobs away from Tea merchants nearly putting all of them out of business.
Boston Massacre
The Boston Massacre was a tragedy that occurred when the children started taunting and throwing things at a British soldier a crowd gathered and more soldiers came, people were throwing ice and snow at the soldiers and the soldiers were threatening to use their guns. Christmas Atticus, was the first one killed in the commotion.
Three men were killed and injuring eight, two of them mortally.
Boston Tea Party
December 16, 1773, the Sons of Liberty disguised themselves as Native Americans and boarded several British ships, they threw lots of tea overboard but noticeably left all other Imports untouched.
Boycott
A boycott is a form of protest where people do not buy or use a specific company’s product or in the case of the Revolutionary War the overtaxed tea.
Committee of correspondence
The Committee of Correspondence was a group founded by Samuel Adams that made a list of British injustices against the colonies and published them for the colonies to read.
Townshend Acts
The township Acts were a series of Acts that taxed common essentials such as lead, paper, glass, and tea. These acts were later repealed.
Writ of assistance
A writ of assistance is a search warrant used by soldiers to search colonists homes to look for a smuggled goods.
