Intolerable Acts (What were they and name them)
Acts passed by parliament to punish colonists for the Boston Tea Party. (Boston Port Act, Impartial Administration of Justice Act, Massachusetts Government Act, Quebec Act, Quartering Act.)
What did the Boston Port Act do?
Closed Boston Harbor until the Boston Tea Party was paid for.
What was the Impartial Administration of Justice Act?
Trials for British soldiers could be held somewhere else besides MA.
What was the Massachusetts government Act?
Town meetings became illegal.
What was the Quebec Act?
Moved the Canadian border south.
What was the Quartering Act?
Allowed soldier to stay in colonist’s homes without permission.
What was the Colonist’s reaction to the stamp act?
Boycotting British goods.
What was the goal of the First Continental Congress?
Make peace with Great Britain.
What was the goal of the Second Continental Congress?
Split with Great Britain.
What was the purpose of the Colonies?
To make money and help Great Britain prosper. (Land. wealth, alliances.)
What was the Great Awakening?
Religious movement that swept through the Colonies. Had them question authority.
