What is a presupposition?
An idea you have in your head even before you look at the evidence.
What is a biblical worldview “presupposition?”
An informed basic belief that is self-evidencing (further evidence can’t be appealed to.)
What is the head system?
Beliefs that have significant ramifications on ones understanding of the reality of the world.
Evidentialism
One is justified to believe something if and only if that person has evidence which supports of demonstrates it.
What do evidentialists think?
They think the way to persuade unbelievers that Christ died for them or that God created the universe is to list all the evidence.
What do evidentialists seek to eliminate?
They seek to eliminate all presuppositions, attempting come to the evidence with total neutrality, complete objectivity, no bias or opinion.
According to the Bible, what is knowledge?
Knowledge is moral; you know either obediently and rebelliously.
People who suppress their knowledge of God’s existence and their knowledge of God’s moral law are not what?
Neutral and objective
Do people start off neutral?
No
What is a model?
- A simplified version of reality
- Organize huge amount of data into a coherent system
What must every truth mission start with and why?
Presuppositions- because its impossible to approach evidence without=t ideas already in your head driving the investigation. (Every chain of reasoning has a staring point.)
Why do evidentialists attempt to set aside their worldview lenses when they interpret evidence>
Because they want to present evidence… CONTINUE
What three realities point to the necessity and value of presuppositions?
- the morality of knowledge
- finitude of humans
- The model-making nature of human knowledge
What can alone open your eyes?
The Holy Spirit.
