Consent
Consent is the legal permission that a patient gives to receive care
RESPONSIVE PATIENT
You are required to get consent from the patient before performing assessments or treatment
(THE LAW ASSUMES AN) UNRESPONSIVE PATIENT….
(In cases where the patient is unresponsive)
The law assumes that the patient would grant consent if they were able to do so- implied consent.
Abandonment
Once you have initiated treatment for a patient, you are legally required to continue.
Advance Directives
Advance directives are documented instructions from a competent person that outline the individual’s wishes concerning healthcare decisions.
If a child requires urgent care and his or her parent or guardian is not available,
