Post-traumatic Stress Disorder
Occurs following exposure to an actual threatened traumatic event.
Intrusive Symptoms
Avoidance of person(s), places or objects that are a reminder of the traumatic event .
Hyperarousal
aggressive, reckless, or self-destructive behavior
Intrusiion
involuntary thoughts, memories, or dreams.
Terrifying flashbacks and nightmares.
Dissociative Reactions
feelings or acting if the event is recurring.
Mood and Cognition
Irritability, with episodes of explosive anger, fear, guilt , or shame
PTSD Biological Factors
Behavioral sensitization may babe the underlying the hyperarousal seen in PTSD.
Acute Stress Disorder
Resolved within 1 month of the traumatic event.
Reactive Attachment Disorder
Inhibited, emotionally withdrawn behavior toward an adult caregiver.
Disinhibited Social Engagement Disorder
The child is overly familiar with others in ways uncharacteristic of cultural norms.
Adjustment Disorder
occurs within 3 months of the stressor. Experience distress that seems out of proportion to the severity of the stressor and may be unable to function socially.
Dissociative Disorders
Responses to extreme external or internal events of stressors; failure to integrate identity, memory, and consciousness.
Dissociative Amnesia
