Taxonomy

Taxon (pl. Taxa)

Populations of organisms that can potentially interbreed under natural conditions.
Genus
A group that includes a number of very closely related species
Phylogeny
The evolutionary history of a group of species

The science of reconstructing phylogeny

Groups that include all organisms descended from a common ancestor

Phylogenetic species concept
defines a species as the smallest possible group whose members descend from a common ancestor and share defining characteristics which distinguish them from other groups.
Proposed replacement for the biological species concept.
