Pornography perpetuates unrealistic body parts and sexual activity of men and women. Genitals are enlarged, the sex lasts longer than usual, and the actors in pornography like everything sexual-wise that is done to them and their bodies.
How is pornography defined? Obscenity?
Pornography is defined as sexually explicit material (images or text) intended to cause sexual arousal. Obscenity is defined as a term that implies a personal or societal judgment that something is offensive. Something is considered obscene if; the main theme is sexual (offensive, shameful, sexual conduct), it offends contemporary community standards, and lacks serious literary, artistic, political, or scientific value.
Is private ownership and viewing of pornography legal? What amendment protects this?
Yes, private ownership and viewing of pornography is legal. The amendment that protects this is the First amendment which guarantees freedom of speech and freedom of the press. However, it does not apply categorically to “obscene” materials and child pornography.

Why do people use pornography?
People use pornography because it can provide sexual stimulation without the potential of being rejected, criticized by a partner, becoming pregnant, or contracting an STI. It can also provide an endless variety of sexual fantasy material.
Does pornography accurately portray sex? Give some examples.
No it does not. Pornography exaggerates sex, falsifying sexual activity and actions. People believe that what they see in pornography is real and true. More young people that watch pornography tend to think that their genitals should look like the actors in pornography and it becomes “ideal”.
What has research concluded about the affect of pornography on intimate relationships?
Pornography has good and bad sides to it contributing to the affect on intimate relationships. Some couples find that mainstream pornography or erotica has improved their sexual experiences, expanded what they experience as erotic, told their partners about sexual desires, and it has helped a couple’s sexual communication and experimentation. Negatives include; negative impacts on some adults’ self image and relationships, an increase in counseling and divorce.
Why do some people argue for censorship? Why do some people feel that pornography should be illegal?
People argue for censorship because they believe that the internet is the most participatory form of communication ever developed and therefore is entitled to the “highest protection from governmental intrusion”. People feel that pornography should be illegal because their morals and values. Some people see pornography as bad, while others don’t.
What types of corporations benefit from pornography? How?
Types of corporations that benefit from pornography are; hotels (Marriott, Westin and the Hilton), cable & satellite companies (General Motors, AT&T and Comcast), the internet (Yahoo). These corporations benefit from pornography because they get a majority of the money from pornography found in and on these corporations.
