Chapter 17:Chemical Equilibrium Flashcards
Reversible Reaction
Is one in which the products react to give back the reactants
Chemical Equilibrium
Is a state of dynamic balance in a reversible reaction where the rate of the forward reaction is the same as the rate of the backwards reaction.
Dynamic State
The reactants are continuously forming products and the products are continuously forming reactants
Dynamic Equilibrium
The rate of the forward reaction is equal to the rate of the backwards reaction
Le Chatelier’s Principle
States that if a stress is applied to a system at equilibrium the system readjust to relieve the stress applied
Stress
Temperature

Haber Process
Compromise pressure=200 atmospheres
Compromise temperature=500 degrees Celsius
High pressure and Low temperature
Contact Process
Just above atmospheric pressure
Compromise pressure =450 degrés Celsius
