Q

What does declaring Minimum Fuel mean?

A

Informs ATC that all planned aerodrome options have been reduced to a specific aerodrome of landing, any change to existing clearance may result in the a/c landing with less than min reserve.

This is not an emergency situation but an indication that one may occur if there is any further delay.

17
Q

For fuel planning purposes when is the a/c considered to be in flight?

A

Once flight plan has been submitted and Fuel figures have been advised to atc.

18
Q

Define payload Fuel?

A

Payload Fuel is considered part of zero fuel weight.
Is carried only in the centre tank to satisfy a MEL dispatch rqmnt.
Payload Fuel may be used provided:
-Mel reqmnts met
- w and b reqmnts met
- all Fuel limitations observed.

19
Q

What is considered the preflight with regards to Fuel planning?

A

Prior to flight plan being submitted and Fuel figures have been advised to atc.

20
Q

What altitude is special holding fuel calculated for?

A

20000ft

21
Q

Special holding Fuel should be a maximum of what?

Do you need to carry it for your alternate as Well?

A

For either inter or tempo up to 60mins

No need to carry it for both just at alternate if reqd

22
Q

What is taxi fuel allowance made up of?

A

Burn of 15kg/min plus 30kg for apu.

23
Q

Variable fuel reserve covers what?

A

5% of flight fuel and diversion fuel when reqd.

24
Q

What alternatives are available when variable fuel reserve is unable to be carried?

A

5% of flight fuel from DPA to destination (and diversion when reqd).
Or
If it still cant be carried then DPA may be planned on a suitable airport.

25
Q

Once in flight what fuel do we need?

A
Fuel to proceed to an acceptable airport
Plus 5% of that
App Fuel
Fixed reserve
Special holding Fuel ( when reqd).
26
Q

Av2

A

TOD alternate.

27
Q

Av3

A

With no acceptable airport available in the preflight for DPD, flight may depart but not go further than dpd unless there is an acceptable airport available.
Inflight if onward airport has inter/tempo below landing minima must have fuel to hold at 10000ft.

28
Q

Av4

A

When onwards airport from dp1 isn’t available flight may depart but not proceed beyond dp1 unless onwards airport above alternate minima becomes available.

29
Q

Av5

A

CPE, when onwards usable adequate is not available preflight, flowers got may still depart but not go beyond cpe unless useable adequate becomes available and Fuel reqd is on board.

30
Q

Av7

A

If Severe low level turbulence or wind shear present within 60mins of arrival time carry lesser of 1200kg or fuel to hold until end of 60min buffer.

31
Q

Av8

A

Wellington - when taf shows wind will be greater than 40kts

Carry full alternate and 100kg extra to allow for 2nd app before divert.
