Footing: Foundation component
Lowest point of construction
Foundation rests on footings that are usually made of concrete that is poured into trenches or forms that have been dug beneath the soil line.
Foundation Walls
rest on top of the footings and provide a surface upon which the flooring is built.
Piers
Columns may be required to support the flooring between the foundation walls when a crawlspace or basement construction is used.
Crawl Space : Foundation type
Lifting the living space above the ground aids in ventilation, moisture control, and prevention of pest infestation.
Basements: Foundation type
