Intervening Prepositional Phrases

don’t mistake preposition for subject
Linking Verbs

Collective Nouns
names a whole group
Special Nouns
Some that have -s are singular (mumps, measles)
Some are plural (pants, binoculars, scissors)
Ics can be either (statistics)
Agreement with Compound Subject
Compound subject joined by and, or, or both and is plural unless its parts belong to one unit
or and nor- verb always agrees with subject closer to verb
Nominative Case
I, you, she, he, it.

Predicate Nominative
group of words following the linking verb
Objective Case
me, you, her, him, it
us, you ,them
Direct object, Indirect object, object of the prepostion
Possessive Case
my, mine, your, yours, her, hers his, its
our, ours, your, yours, their/s
replacement for possessive noun(s)
When do you use who in a sentence?
You use who when it is a subject
When do you use whom in a sentence?
You use whom for the Direct Object, the Indirect Object of a verb, or for the object of the preposition
