Q

1st Law of Thermodynamics

A
  • The change in the internal energy of a system = the
heat flow into the system + the work done on a
    system.
  • When heat flows to or from a system, the amount
of energy the system gains or loses is equal to the
    amount of heat transferred

Q

2nd Law of Thermodynamics

A
  • The total amount of disorder in the universe never
    decreases
  • Spontaneous heat flow ALWAYS travels from
hotter to colder, and it is always irreversible

Q

Entropy

A
  • When 2 systems of different temps are in thermal
contact, heat always flows from the hotter system
    to the cooler system
  • There is no change in the total energy of the 2
systems; energy just flows out of one and into the
    other.

Q

3rd Law of Thermodynamics

A
