Venous Return
Blood return to the heart from Distal extremeties
Total Care
patients are able to do very little to nothing for themselves.
Tinea Capitis
Ringworm | Fungal infection (can spread from one person to another)
Special Mouth Care
oral care for pt. whose conditions result in a need for more frequent care. ie; NPO, receiving O2, having NG or unconscience.
Self Care
refers to the pt. who are able to perform ADL without any assistance.
Seborrhea
an overproduction of sebum in the scalp, causing dry, flaky skin leading to dandruff.
Oscular Prosthesis
Nits
clear bumps affixed tightly to the shaft of the hair
Mottling
Purplish blotching of the skin when circulation slows immensely.
Maceration
softening of the skin due to prolonged exposure to moisture. (usually In the skin crevices)
Lice
tiny parasites
Leukoplakia
white patches on the tongue/oral mucosa (can be precancerous lesions)
Lesion
open areas
Excoration
Scrapes on the skin, (resulting by scratching and or Nursing care)
Assisted Care
need for SOME assistance with ADLs. ie; hard to-reach areas, help in and out of the tub.
