What is an Open Source OS?
Free source code for people to download and change if they want to
EX: Linux, Ubuntu
What is Closed Source OS?
You have to pay, is proprietary, is private source code is not supposed to be available to the public to purchase EX: Mac OS, Windows OS
+What is Shell/CLI?
An operating system where you can only use commands to navigate. USED FOR LINUX!!!
+What is Command Prompt?
You can only use commands to operate USED IN WINDOWS!!!
What is ARM?
CPU for mobile devices
What does a 32-bit Windows OS need?
Processor needs→ 1 GHz
Memory→ 1 GB
Free Hard Disk Space→ 16GB
Capable of addressing 4 GB of RAM
What does a 64-bit Windows OS need?
Processor needs→1 GHz Memory→ 2 GB Free Hard Disk Space→ 20 GB **64 bit capable of addressing 128 GB of RAM also has additional security options
What is Cache?
The fastest memory available on a device and is typically used to access a user’s most commonly used applications and websites
What is BranchCache?
Is cache for an entire network. Allows devices ‘on a network’ to get resources quicker ‘over a network’.
What is Direct Access?
It’s VPN
What is Bitlocker?
A feature that encrypts the entire hard drive
What is a Domain?
Is a network, an area that is controlled
What is Joining A Domain?
Joining a network
What is EFS?
Encrypted File System- Allows us to encypt specific Files or folders
