Clinical Judgement
A conclusion about a patients needs or health problems and/or the decisions to take or avoid action, use or modify standard approaches, or create new approaches based on the patient’s response
Critical thinking
The ability to think in a systematic and logical manner with openness to question and reflect on the reasoning process/
Evidenced based knowledge
knowledge based on research or clinical expertise
Reflection
purposefully reviewing a situation to discover its purpose or meaning. Questions to ask:
-How did I act?
-Why did I choose such an action?
-What could i have done differently?
-Were the results what I expected?
-What should I do in a similar situation in the future?
Skill: Interpretation
Be orderly in collecting data about patients. Apply reasoning while looking for patterns to emerge.
Skill: analysis
Be open-minded as you look for information about a patient. Do not make careless assumptions. Does the data reveal a problem that you believe is true?
Skill: Inference
Look at the meaning and significance of findings.
Skill: Evaluation
Look at all situations objectively.
Skill: Explanation
support your findings and conclusions. Use knowledge and experience to choose strategies to use in care of patients
Skill: Self-regulation
Reflect on your experiences.
