Chapter 14 Terms Flashcards
Materials requirement planning
planning system used to ensure the right quantities of materials are available when needed
Master production schedule
quantities of each finished product to be completed each period
Time bucket
individual time period for planning
Planning horizon
entire time period covered by the MPS
Cumulative lead time
the longest lead-time path in the overall assembly of the product
Available to promise
the part of planned production that is not committed to a customer
Rough-cut capacity planning
estimation of the availability of the critical resources needed to support the MPS
Bill of Materials (BOM)
detailed description of an “end item” and list of all of its raw materials, parts and subassemblies
Infinite loading
the assumption (by MRP) that there is an infinite amount of capacity available
Capacity requirement planning
an estimate of capacity needed at work centers (if MRP has the capacity to do it)
Load profile
comparison of production needs to actual capacity
