In what year did Prophet go into full time ministry
1990
What did Prophet start off his church doing
Studying medicine
Success in the ministry requires…
Power and wisdom
What verse supports were to have power and wisdom in the ministry
1 Corinthians 1:24 KJV
But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God.
The five pre-conditions for full time ministry are?
- You must have a special call to sacrifice your Isaac
- You must demonstrate faithfulness in handling a few things
- A ministry that needs a full time pastor
- A death to the love of silver
- A total surrender for all possibilities
Where do we read about God asking Abraham to sacrifice Isaac
Genesis 22:1-12
Does God ask everyone to sacrifice a Isaac
No!
What definite call must you have before entering full time ministry
A definite call to give up your treasured secular job
Is the call to give up your secular job different from the call to follow God?
Yes!
God may call you to follow Him but that call to give up Isaac may never come up
Verse to support that the call to sacrifice is different from the call to follow God
Genesis 12:1 KJV
Now the Lord had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee:
Genesis 13:17-18 KJV
[17] Arise, walk through the land in the length of it and in the breadth of it; for I will give it unto thee. [18] Then Abram removed his tent, and came and dwelt in the plain of Mamre, which is in Hebron, and built there an altar unto the Lord.
Verse that teaches that he that is faithful with little will be faithful with much
Luke 16:10-12 KJV
[10] He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much. [11] If therefore ye have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches ? [12] And if ye have not been faithful in that which is another man’s, who shall give you that which is your own?
Why do a lot of people not do well in full time ministry
Because they do not do well as lay people
What do most people think pastors do
Sleep from morning to evening
When do pastors work
When the sheep become available for example in the evening when they come back from work
They’re not like accountants and lawyers who do 9-5
2 Thessalonians 3:11
2 Thessalonians 3:11 KJV
[11] For we hear that there are some which walk among you disorderly, working not at all, but are busybodies.
How were the Swiss missionaries sent to Ghana sent as?
Self sustaining ministers
They came with skills that would enable them to work in Africa as they did their ministry work
Verse to support that idleness leads to disloyalty
1 Timothy 5:13 KJV
[13] And withal they learn to be idle, wandering about from house to house; and not only idle, but tattlers also and busybodies, speaking things which they ought not.
Main verse for a death to the love of silver being a precondition for full time ministry
Ecclesiastes 5:10 KJV
[10] He that loveth silver shall not be satisfied with silver; nor he that loveth abundance with increase: this is also vanity.
Galatians 2:20-21
Galatians 2:20-21 KJV
[20] I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. [21] I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.
Why must a minister going to to serve properly have had died to the love for silver and gold
Because the bible teaches that those that love silver are never satisfied with silver
The more you give them the more they want
- Ecclesiastes 5:10
John 21:18-19
John 21:19 KJV
[19] This spake he, signifying by what death he should glorify God. And when he had spoken this, he saith unto him, Follow me.
1 Corinthians 9:16
1 Corinthians 9:16 KJV
[16] For though I preach the gospel, I have nothing to glory of: for necessity is laid upon me; yea, woe is unto me, if I preach not the gospel!
