Q

Why when a thermometer is placed in hot water is it not accurate?

A

When placed, there is a net flow of thermal energy from the water to the thermometer which reduces the temp of the water so the net flow of energy stops when the thermometer and water are at the same temperature.

Q

Why is there no negative kelvin?
