is a model that takes a look at how our body responds to stress
Alarm Reaction
body’s immediate reaction once it faces a threatening event or situation
Resistance
initial shock of alarm reaction has weared of and adjusted to the threatning situation
Exhaustion
the person is no longer adaptable to the stressor
Traumatic Events
a situation in which you are exposed to an actual a threat
Life Changes
is something that can be either positive or negative
Daily Hassles
minor irritations apart of are everyday life
Psychophysiological Disorders
physical disorders or diseases whose symptoms are brought about or worsened by stressed and emotional factors
Psychoneuroimmunology
is the field that studies how psychological factors such as stress influence the immune system
Immunosuppression
is when the immune system breaks down and unable to do it’s job
Type A
excessively competitive, chronic sense of time urgency, impatient have higher stress levels
Type B
easy going, relaxed
Problem Focused Coping
when you deal directly with the problem
Emotion Focused Coping
don’t deal directly with the problem
Perceived Control
how much control and influence we think we have over are life and outcome
Learned Helplessness
when you acquire the belief that your powerless to do anything about a threatening situation you’re in

advice of your friends, acquaintance and family member

helpful in regulating stress

enduring state of mind that consists of joy, contentment and other positive emotions
Social Relationships
having other people around you positive correlate with happiness
Money
it can be helpful up to a point to increase happiness

there is a relationship between education level and happiness level
Religion
people that are religious tend to be happier
Positive Affect
refers to our propensity to experience positive emotions
Optimism
positive outlook on life
Pessimism
negative outlook on life
Flow
experience that is so engaging and engrossing becomes worth doing for it’s own sake
