Chapter 13 - Emergency Procedures Flashcards
The underlying considerations must be borne in mind when an emergency occurs:
1st Priority: ________________
2nd Priority: ________________
3rd Priority: ________________
1st Priority: Safety of Populace
2nd Priority: Safety of Aircrew
3rd Priority: Integrity of the Aircraft.
The Aircrew assumes the responsibility of the aircraft when he signs out the _______________________.
Logistic Maintenance Information System (LMIS)
The responsibilities of the Squadron Executive Officer(SXO) are as follows:
- ________________
- ________________
- ________________
- Monitor aircrew’s actions
- Advise, direct or override (if necessary) the aircrew’s decisions. For this purpose, the SXO is expected to make references to the Flight Manual, Standing Orders, SOPs and Directives.
- Inform Base personnel on the potential impact of the emergency and coordinate ground support, if required.
The responsibilities of the Duty Instructor are as follows:
- ________________
- ________________
- ________________
- Monitor activities of solo trainees in the circuit and render necessary assistance where appropriate
- Monitor weather and wind trends and make recommendations to the SXO if necessary
- As the DI is more responsive (monitoring SQN Tac constantly), he should assist a solo trainee in emergency handling until the SXO takes over the responsibility. thereafter, he is to “CRM” the SXO and assist him in monitoring the flight path of a solo trainee aircraft on the radar scope at the Control Tower.
The responsibilities of the Cover Solo is as follows:
- ________________
The designated QFI is expected to assist the solo trainee in emergency handling till the SXO assumes that responsibility.
The guidelines and handling consideration before reaching a decision during a emergency are as follows:
- ________________
- ________________
- ________________
- ________________
- For non-critical system failure in flight, a QFI may proceed with the sortie if the mission can be carried out safely without any degradation in consultation with the SXO
- On the ground, the aircrew will reject the aircraft with system failure and have an aircraft change
- For critical systems (e.g. engine and fire warnings), a more cautious approach will be adopted and all aircrew are to recover to base even if in-flight diagnosis points to a spurious warning. Basically, we shall honour the warning and treat is as real
- For solo trainees, the SXO must be informed and the sortie will be terminated.
